Business partners have concerns about the death, retirement or divorce of a partner. To make sure there's a smooth transition following the departure of a partner, business owners rely on buy-sell agreements to help facilitate the succession of their business. This session will review the many factors to consider when creating an agreement. We will cover both redemption and cross-purchase structures as well as the various funding and valuation considerations that determine the purchase price. We will also cover the impact of the 2024 U.S. Supreme Court case, Connelly v. United States, that has upended buy-sell planning for many business owners.
