Breakout 9 | Tech-savvy or tech-stagnant? Decoding legal competency in the digital age


It's been 6 years and 8 months since the Supreme Court of Missouri updated Rule 4-1.1 of Missouri’s Rules of Professional Conduct, underscoring the importance of lawyers keeping pace with technology. Despite this, much of the legal sector remains anchored in traditional methods. While there's a noticeable move towards integrating technology for routine tasks, the heart of legal practice is yet to fully embrace the technological wave. In this session, I'll delve into the present landscape of legal tech competency, particularly in the context of transformative elements like AI, heightened privacy concerns, and shifting economic patterns. Additionally, I'll challenge prevailing notions about the inherent tech proficiency of the modern generation and discuss strategies to genuinely assess and uplift tech expertise within our profession.
