A review of Senate Bill No. 623 and what is likely coming down the pike, this presentation will look at a combination of issues facing the GAL from the potential legislation that has made appearances during the last two legislative sessions. This discussion will address the recommendations of Special Committee on Guardians ad Litem and their report to the Board of Governors, including the distinction of the role a GAL plays in various types of cases, how to fund this legislation, releasing a GAL before the end of the case, and the rules on disqualification.
