Drug Recognition Expert or DRE is a training and certification taught by NHTSA and IACP to law enforcement officers. Every DRE is taught that the evaluation of a suspected drug impaired driver is standardized and systematic. Understanding the formation, requirements, and training in this program will be presented. The expectations of the evaluator and limitations of the evaluator will be explained. Certification and recertification requirements are explained.
