Breakout session 11 | Seven things non-immigration lawyers should know about immigration law

Immigration law can be unwieldy and complex. This session is a one-hour presentation that gives lawyers who do not generally practice immigration a look into the nuts and bolts of immigration law, how immigration issues impact clients' experiences, as well as how immigration issues overlap with clients' needs in the family law and criminal law areas.

Focus Points:

Immigration law is not simply completing forms for clients.
Immigration law requires a deep dive into many areas because there are many negative consequences that can result if there is not enough due diligence.
Clients and their Attorneys must be aware of the need to provide substantial evidence for immigration cases.
Every case is indeed different.
