Description

This course begins by explaining the creation of U.S. patent rights.  We will discuss the U.S. requirements for patentability, and explore the scope of patent rights with respect to the importance of patent claims.  Some strategies for start-ups to consider regarding filing patents.  We will also look at a granted patent document and review the various sections.

  • Explain the scope and limits of patent protection – when to file, what to protect, and why 

  • The parts of a patent 

  • The process of applying for and having a patent granted 

  • Aspects of International patent strategy and use of the Patent Cooperation Treaty
