2021 Sunshine Law: Beyond the Basics

Total Credits: 1.1 MCLE, 1.0 Kansas Credit

Practice Area:
Government Practice
Audio and Video

Originally presented at the 2021 Annual Government Practice Institute

This is a look at advanced Sunshine Law issues.  This presentation is designed for lawyers with a working knowledge of the Missouri Sunshine Law who wish to broaden their knowledge of that area of the law.  The presentation examines issues in the Sunshine Law which are not typically discussed in the standard programs which merely give an overview of the law.  This includes issues where the law is not clearly established such as what are single-person and quasi-governmental bodies, can agendas be changed, what are the different types of electronic meetings, how does the sunshine law protect privacy, and when does a record actually exist.  It also looks at some of the more recent cases and how those cases have changed our interpretation.
