Nimrod “Rod” Chapel, Jr., is a Missouri trial lawyer and former Commissioner of the Administrative Hearing Commission who has dedicated his professional and private life to helping people stand up for their rights.
Rod founded The Chapel Law Group, LLC, to create a vehicle for the protection of workers and their families through not only the court system, but also administrative and legislative avenues and venues. Chapel’s advocacy has protected the rights of workers in Missouri, impacted multi-million dollar settlements, and helped to make Missouri a safer place to live and work for everyone.
Most recently though, Rod served as a Commissioner on the Administrative Hearing Commission. The Administrative Hearing Commission is a neutral, independent, administrative tribunal. Rod also served as General Counsel/Director of Legal Services for the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The Chapel Law Group, LLC, has a practice restricted to the representation of people and families injured in any way, deprived of wages due for their labor, and consumer issues that affect working families.
He is married to Denise Chapel and has 2 young sons. Rod is active in his community and believes strongly in community service. Currently, he serves as President of the Jefferson City, MO, NAACP as a member of The Board of Governors for The Missouri Bar and he is on a number of other boards including the Missouri Kid’s First, YMCA, Crimestoppers, Boy Scouts of America, St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, United Way and Rotary.
Kyle is managing partner of Husch Blackwell’s Washington, DC, office; his practice involves governmental affairs, regulatory work, campaign finance, government contracts and election law. He works extensively with legislation matters and advises industry representatives from groups, companies and associations with legal services across the public policy spectrum.
Libby is an associate in Armstrong Teasdale’s Financial and Real Estate Services practice group. Her practice includes counseling clients involved in real estate transactions, including commercial leasing, purchase and sale, and financing. In addition to her real estate practice, Libby draws on her previous experience as a judicial law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas to help her clients navigate issues involving restructuring, insolvency, or bankruptcy. Libby is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, Business Law Section, and Business Bankruptcy Committee.
Carrie Hermeling leads the firm’s Real Estate, Development & Construction industry team. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute and Commercial Real Estate Women and frequently speaks on topics relevant to the real estate, development and construction industries.
Carrie has been lead litigation counsel in real estate, development and construction-related disputes, including claims involving construction projects, real estate sale contracts, commercial leases, broker agreements, easements and restrictive covenants; foreclosures (nonjudicial and judicial) and post-foreclosure other real-estate owned (OREO) title-related and land use-related claims; real estate tax sales and appeals; valuation litigation in the eminent domain context involving commercial and residential properties; development-related disputes involving land acquisition, rezoning, conditional-use permits, and mechanics’ liens; receiverships relating to restaurants and apartment complexes; and constitutional challenges to economic incentive financing and governmental actions.
Kalila J. Jackson is Senior Staff Attorney at the Metropolitan St. Louis Equal Housing & Opportunity Council (EHOC), where she represents EHOC and individual clients in housing discrimination cases. Kalila earned her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She also advises the private sector on fair housing compliance.
Mark Murray concentrates his practice in real estate and related matters, including transactions, leasing, real estate lending, secured transactions, loan workouts and foreclosures, development projects, easement law, eminent domain and property disputes. He advises clients ranging from publicly traded companies and banks to individual commercial real estate investors and municipalities on a wide variety of projects. These encompass smaller investments under $1 million to deals in excess of $25 million.
He also represents both landlords and tenants in the negotiation and enforcement of commercial leases. Mark handles other real estate-related matters including property tax appeals and exemptions and eminent domain issues. His experience includes helping clients with various municipal issues, including subdivision approvals, re-zonings, variances, conditional uses and other matters.
In addition to his regular practice, Mark provides pro bono legal services for several religious and charitable organizations.
