This program was originally presented at our 2024 MOSOLO Small Firm Conference, June 6-8, 2024
Learn about common issues that consumers face in connection with the purchase of a vehicle. This presentation explores what constitutes violations of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, and then examines how those principles can form the basis of claims against a motor vehicle dealer.
The MMPA is a broad statute that covers a wide variety of conduct that can occur during a vehicle transaction. Advertisements and disclosures before the sale can mislead consumers. Misrepresentations and documentation during the sale can lay the groundwork for consumers to have remedies for later problems. After the sale, the consumer may experience mechanical and financial problems with the vehicle for which the dealer bears responsibility.
Speaker: Bryan E. Brody, Brody & Cornwell, St. Louis
