2025 The role of AI in employment processes: Practical and ethical considerations

Total Credits: 1.5 MCLE, 1.5 Ethics

Dates

Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of modern business operations, including employment decisions such as recruiting, promoting, and terminating employees. The integration of AI in human resources systems increases efficiency, reduces bias, and enhances decision-making processes. However, it also raises significant ethical and practical concerns.

This program explores the multifaceted role of AI in these critical employment processes, examining both its benefits and potential drawbacks along with the legal landscapes from around the world and the U.S., and provides practical, day-to-day advice for Missouri’s evolving legal framework.

Learning objectives include:

  • What is AI and how does it impact the workplace regarding recruiting?
  • Foreseeable risks of discrimination.
  • The use of AI in employee termination.

Speakers: William C. Martucci, Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, Washington D.C.; Burcu Y. Erbaz, Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, Kansas City; Minha A. Jutt, Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP, Kansas City
