Description

Join Jeremiah Morgan, Erin Hawley, and Heidi Vollet for a panel discussion regarding the 2024-2025 Supreme Court term. The first portion of the program features a moderated panel discussion of three key cases: Mahmoud v. Taylor, Trump v. CASA, and Royal Canin, Inc. v. Wullschleger. These cases touch on issues including universal injunctions, religious expression and opt-outs in public elementary schools, and revised steps in the procedural dance between federal and state courts.

The second portion of the program is a classic case law update spanning six additional decisions this term. Listen closely and take those notes fast because there is a lot to discuss! Cases discussed include: U.S. v. Skrmetti, Lackey v. Stinnie, Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Bd. v. Drummond, Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton, Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services, and Waetzig v. Halliburton Energy Services.

Case materials include transcripts with additional information about the speakers, their clerking experiences, as well as case discussions on Medina v. Planned Parenthood and Catholic Charity Bureau, Inc. v. Wisconsin Labor & Industrial Commission, which had to be cut from the final program due to time constraints.

Speakers: Jeremiah J. Morgan, Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Jefferson City; Erin M. Hawley, Alliance Defending Freedom, Lansdowne, VA; Heidi D. Vollet, Cook, Vetter, Doerhoff & Landwehr, PC, Jefferson City
