Who is in charge of the final disposition of a body? This program will address what attorneys can do to help their clients whether they are making end of life plans for themselves, loved ones, or if the death has already happened. Complications of separation, divorce, minor children, competing claims, disputes among family members, and financial obligations will be covered. Special issues dealing with organ donation, autopsies disinterment, and cremation will also be discussed; as well as the advantages and dangers of prepaying for funeral services and the rights of all of those involved. Sometimes pre-planning and pre-paying helps solve the above issues, sometimes it makes things worse!
Speaker: Donald Otto, Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, Jefferson City
