The Missouri Bar is grateful to the volunteer author, Nathan M. Nickolaus. Mr. Nickolaus received his B.A., 1985, from Westminster College and J.D., 1988, from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a Masters of Public Administration from Indiana State University in 2016. Mr. Nickolaus was selected as the City Counselor for Jefferson City in 2003, following 15 years in private practice focused on local government organizations. In 2013 he was appointed as General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Economic Development. In 2012 he received the Lou Czech Award, presented by the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association. He is currently Of Counsel with the firm of Lauber Municipal Law and heads its Jefferson City office.
