Barbara Glesner Fines is the Dean of the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, where she holds the Rubey M. Hulen Professorship. Dean Glesner Fines received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and her Masters of Law from Yale Law School. She teaches a variety of courses from classroom to clinic to community including Professional Responsibility, Family Violence, and Ethical Issues in Family Representation. Prior to becoming dean, she co-directed the law school’s family law emphasis program, which includes multiple clinics, international and interdisciplinary coursework. UMKC is the publication home of the prestigious Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Within the UMKC Child and Family Law Program, Dean Glesner Fines coordinated the Family Court Clerkship and oversaw the law school’s internship programs at Legal Aid of Western Missouri, where she serves as a volunteer attorney in the domestic unit. She is the author of Ethical Issues in Family Representation (Carolina Academic Press 2010) and Professional Responsibility: A Collaborative Approach (Carolina Academic Press 2012) as well as numerous articles addressing issues at the intersection of professional responsibility and family law, which can be downloaded from the social science research network at http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/cf_dev/AbsByAuth.cfm?per_id=157694. She is a frequent presenter at national conferences on ethics and family law topics. She is a member of the American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility, has served as the Chair of the American Association of Law Schools Section on Professional Responsibility, and as a member of the executive committee of the AALS Section on Family Law, and is a member of the editorial board of the Association of Family and Conciliation Court’s Family Court Review.
