Candice is Assistant General Counsel for Employment at Truist Insurance Holdings (“TIH”). In addition to being an attorney, she is also a SHRM Certified Professional and is responsible for all HR legal issues at her company. She works with outside counsel to defend claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour violations, and other unlawful employment practices.  She also works on EEOC claims, restrictive covenant matters, HR related litigation, separation and severance matters, discipline, and HR related complaint investigation.   A good deal of her time is also spent advising and counseling her company’s various business units and corporate HR.   Candice is located in Kansas City, MO where prior to joining TIH, she was an employment attorney for Seyferth Blumenthal Harris, LLC.   In that role, she represented businesses in all matters of employment litigation and provided advice and counseling on employment issues like DEI, performance evaluations,  and employee complaint procedure. Prior thereto she worked at The Meyers Law firm representing employees in employment matters so she has a unique perspective on both sides of the “v”.  Candice graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Law and  has her undergraduate degree in Speech/Theater/Debate Education and a minor in Spanish from Oral Roberts University.  Before going to law school, she worked as a public-school teacher in Texas and taught high school and middle school Spanish and Theater. In her free time, you can find Candice in the kitchen making up recipes, watching football and sports documentaries, volunteering at her church and in her community, watching live music or theater, dancing, or trying out the latest workout.
