Laurel Stevenson graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1989 where she was a Member of the Journal of Dispute Resolution and a guest lecturer for a graduate course in Health Care Risk Management. After serving as in-house counsel in Iowa and Wisconsin and working for the Wisconsin Senate, she was in private practice in Springfield, Missouri for 23 years. She tried more than 80 jury trials to verdict, and also served as a mediator and arbitrator. She was a facilitator for more than a decade for the Missouri Bar's Complaint Resolution and Fee Dispute Resolution programs, and taught multiple CLE courses. Laurel recently relocated to Kansas City to become the Director of the Mediation and Assessment Program for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
