Hon. Robert Clayton

Judge Clayton is a graduate of Hannibal Public Schools, Southern Methodist University and the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Law. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Clayton was in private practice as a partner at Clayton & Curl, in Hannibal (1994-2003). He also served as State Representative (1994-2002), and was appointed to the Public Service Commission in 2003 (Chairman 2009-2011). He was appointed to the Bench in 2011 and retained by the voters in November 2012. He served as Chief Judge 2013-2014. He is active in numerous bar associations, regionally and nationally. He serves as First Vice President of The State Historical Society of Missouri, a Trustee of the Supreme Court of Missouri Historical Society, and Board member of the MACC Foundation. He is President of Affordable Community Education, Inc., a higher education non-profit serving Northeast Missouri. He is a member of the Hannibal YMCA Men’s Club. He is married with two opinionated daughters.
