Umo Ironbar-Brandt is the Counsel for the Department of Social Services within the Family Support Division (FSD). As the primary legal counsel for the Department’s largest Division, it is her responsibility to ensure the agency’s compliance with multiple, complex federal and state laws, as well as regulations the agency has promulgated. Her areas of law within FSD are Contract law and Administrative law. She provides legal advice and representation to FSD in the administration of Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP / Food Stamps), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Rehabilitation Services for the Blind (RSB), Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and other programs.
