He is licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and Kansas, and is a licensed Missouri Real Esate Broker. He was mayor of the City of Parkville from 1991-2002 and an alderman from 1986-1991. He is a past U.S. District Court Arbiter. He was a founder the Platte Land Trust, dedicated to preserving land for parks.
